A mysterious, UFO-like disc spotted on Google Maps has sparked chilling theories among users. The structure, resembling an extraterrestrial spacecraft, was discovered in the mountainous region of New Mexico, sending the internet into a frenzy. The white disc, located at coordinates 34°24’21.6″N 107°05’44.5″W, sits about 34 miles from the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge in La Joya.Adding to the mystery, the object is nestled in the vast landscape of Sierra Ladrones, with no roads, paths, or homes in sight.Screenshots of the object show that the top of the white disc appears to have metallic hardware, while part of it is concealed by bushes and other vegetation. The unusual sighting was shared by a Twitter account dedicated to ufology, with a tweet stating:“Something in the shape of a disc embedded in a mountain in New Mexico, USA, at an altitude of 2,255 meters.”Some theorize the object could be a calibration target for satellites, an old observatory, or even a defunct water reservoir. Now, Reddit users have joined the discussion, with some speculating it could be a crashed UFO lodged in the mountain.
Some suspected the disc was a crashed UFO
“I’m from New Mexico and very familiar with the area,” another user chimed in. “There’s nothing out there—pure desert. No way it could be a home, and if it’s on a mesa, I doubt one could drill for water. There’s no reason for a building to be there.”A third user added: “I wondered if it could be a modern home built into the earth, but there’s no suitable access road. I also checked the tax maps—this is on government land, not privately owned.”The earliest Google image of the site, captured in 1996, shows no sign of the disc or a dirt path, with the land appearing completely barren.

A YouTuber named Michael, known as “The Earth Watchman” by his subscribers, also joined the investigation, stating:“This is a very remote location—nothing going on up here. This looks very much like a disc that is stuck in the top of this mountain. I measured the disc from side to side; it’s around 30 feet across.”Michael further claimed that the disc became buried in the ground after crash-landing in the mountains.Meanwhile, the Metabunk website sought a more realistic explanation, reviewing historical records from the U.S. Geological Survey. The site concluded that the structure was likely “a rainwater catchment that has since been removed and replaced by a different structure,” after uncovering a 1975 photograph showing a small dot with a path leading to it.A Metabunk researcher added: “From a quick search, there appears to have been a structure on that exact spot since at least 1975, so it seems unlikely that anything coincidentally ‘crashed’ there.”
